There’s more retail construction in Central Florida right now since the Great Recession.
Nearly 1 million square feet of retail construction is underway in the Orlando area — double what was happening a year ago, Colliers International Central Florida reported.
And developers want to build more. For example, Orlando-based Unicorp National Developments Inc. has proposed more than $2 billion in projects with large retail footprints in Orlando. Beyond that, developers are proposing projects in places like Daytona Beach and the Space Coast.
