Here’s when a stalled $30M Waterford Lakes-area retail center project with Earth Fare finally may break ground

A long-anticipated expansion to Shoppes at Alafaya, a Waterford Lakes-area shopping center which could include specialty grocer Earth Fare, may break ground early next year.

Miami-based HM Management & Development LLC — whose affiliate owns the 120,000-square-foot Shoppes at Alafaya at 1100 & 1250 N. Alafaya Trail — hopes to add another 150,000 square feet to the retail center after getting approvals from Orange County, owner Eric Sheppard told Orlando Business Journal. The $30 million expansion to connect the north and south ends of the development has been mired in the permitting process since at least July 2017, according to Orange County documents.
