Hispanic grocer Presidente Supermarket to take over recently closed Publix in east Orlando

A new grocer has inked a deal to open in a recently closed Publix location in east Orlando. 

Miami-based Presidente Supermarket, one of the largest Hispanic-owned grocers in the U.S., plans to open in the shuttered Lakeland-based Publix Supermarkets Inc. at 2300 S. Chickasaw Trail, Orlando Business Journal has learned. An opening date wasn’t immediately known, but the opening is important as it will create new jobs. The former Publix closed in September due to underperforming sales.
