Korean grocery chain H Mart likely will open a new store on West Colonial Drive in Orlando — a first in Florida for the national chain — in a deal that has created a lot of buzz among consumers and real estate executives alike.
The New Jersey-based company has not publicly revealed any plans after an entity related to the company bought the 183,894-square-foot, 17.9-acre Westland Terrace Plaza at 7501 W. Colonial Drive for $9.6 million on March 2. The deal was surprising for many reasons, including that most of the retail space has been vacant since January 2012 when a Super Target closed there.
